4. The Jomon people's world view. 4-1. The world of Jomon people. |
The soul of Jomon and the world view out of the soul like that tends to sleep, being in the depths of our mind, though nobody almost is noticing. It is because our mind has the dual structure, in that the rational mind in Yayoi culture conceals the soul of Jomon. This is a kind of self-alienation if it states this problem about the individuals' mind. If so, there is strong possibility the self-alienation like that leads the people to be negative about one's independence and freedom before they notice it. Rather it may be better to say the worldview out of the self-alienation like that gets the people to think that it can maintain the society and all the organization only with leading oneself to fall the victim. This is nothing else but to be the denial of one's soul and also freedom. And, it also is nothing else but to be the worship of the organizations unfortunately. As you see, today, the people are in the organized condition considerably. Therefore, there is the possibility that our society suppresses the weak or poor persons' freedom and right limitlessly. Of course, in this case, it is certain the freedom and right for the strong or rich persons conversely are expanded intentionally and limitlessly. If the possibility like that materializes actually, our society will change to the more terrible hierarchical society different from the stratified society like Europe. The society like that keeps increasing the alienated persons, treating them coldly. And, whole of the society, filled with the persons like that, is dyed in the atmosphere of personal alienation. It is natural that the society like that makes the culture and the social standard for behavior degenerate with obstructing the fusion of egos because the fused egos are the footing of the social standard and culture. But, it can't think the people exist as the laborers or the parts of an organization originally. It thinks they are living as the mental existence for knowing the world, that is, oneself. In other words, they all are cognition-subject. However, the civilization tends to treat the people as the parts of the organization. It thinks the social tendency like that brings the degeneration of culture and at last brings the ruin of society as the civilization develops. Needless to say, the aspect of the degeneration like that is different corresponding to each community or country. Anyhow, at least in Japan, it is certain the conflict produced between the soul of Jomon and the rationalism based on Yayoi culture exists in the undercurrent of the degeneration like that. The above mentioned degeneration and ruin never be others' problem. We would have to think about this problem carefully. By the way, it seems a ego is the subject for the perception when the subjective recognition with the consistency provides us the actual world. Contrary to that, the worship of the organization is the denial of subjectivity for the individuals because the organization's recognition acts as the objective recognition in the individuals. If so, it can think the denial like that of the subjectivity means the denial of the world supposed to be the object for the subjective recognition because the individuals' recognition all is the subjective recognition finally. In other words, it has to think the denial of subjective recognition really brings the cognition-subject the nil. Even if it is the exaggeration, it is certain the denial like that brings nothing but the philosophy of admiring the ruin of individual. It is certain the state collapses before it examines the past history if the philosophy like that spreads. As it stated before, the community must maintain the mental footing supposed to fuse each ego, that is, culture. And, the mental footing like that is born of the individuals' consciousness persistently. Therefore, we need to extract the principle for behavior and so on with finding the mental footing like that. That is the true philosophy. The cognition-person needs to be treated carefully in the meaning like that though this is digression. Anyhow, it seems the effect of the temporary principle we adopted is reaching to the limit already. We would have to realize our true heart, that is, the soul of Jomon. And, it would have to extract our original principle from our culture. If not, it is hard we establish the subjective recognition carrying consistency. And, it also is hard our egos are fused. In other words, if the people don't think of the thing seriously, our true social standard won't be established everlastingly. Thereupon, to find the clue of the solution about this problem, next, it thinks of our true heart while examining the Jomon world and the Jomon people's worldview. However, the Jomon period is very long. So, it restricts this consideration mainly to the middle term of Jomon period and also to the latter term of Jomon period. In passing, it roughly is from 2000 B.C. until 1000 B.C. In those days, the climate in Japanese Islands was relatively mild. However, at that time, the cold climate was about to creep on Japanese Islands together with the disturbance of the Asian Continent. And, it is said the Yin dynasty rose in China in roughly 1500 B.C. Therefore, it can think the culture of the new type Mongoloid held the superior position than the Jomon culture in at least that point of time. Conversely, in the last part of the Jomon period, the Jomon culture had started to decline. And, each society of Japanese Islands also started to change so violently that it makes the people foresee the arrival of new epoch, that is, the arrival of Yayoi period. Probably, in the latter part of the Jomon period, the Jomon people already had the premonition of the violent social change though it may have been unconsciously. And, the uneasiness like that also was amplified because of the matured Jomon culture probably. "It doesn't know whether tomorrow is the better day than today". It seems the sense like that was spreading in Japanese Islands. Anyhow, it was certain the dark cloud rushed toward them and was about to bring violent change. And, there is strong possibility a part of them already had felt the realistic threat from such social uneasiness and their surrounding circumstances. It seems the many of people living in Japanese Islands were the people of sea in those days if it considers the various data. If so, it is easy to think they were the lively frank people with the various curiosity because it seems they went to various countries across the sea. Probably, they, in the trade, and so on, visited in their own art of navigation not only the habitants of the Japanese Islands but also the people of "old type Mongoloid" to live in the coast of the Asian Continent or other. However, it doesn't seem they connected with only the people of "old type Mongoloid" because the various people were living in the Asian Continent. In those days, the new type Mongoloid already had advanced to the various areas of the Asian Continent. Therefore, it seems that in the coast of the Asian Continent, there were not only the Mongoloid of old type but also the people having the blood of new type and old type. If so, it is natural that the Jomon people also had the contact with the people like that. By any chance, it may have contacted to even the new type Mongoloid in the Asian Continent. Rather it should say there is strong possibility like that. Anyhow, it would be certain the Jomon people got the various knowledge, especially the new type Mongoloid's knowledge, in the trade or other. And, many of the knowledge like that were imported through the various people or from new type Mongoloid directly. But, at that time, it doesn't seem the Jomon people had the inferiority complex against the culture the new type Mongoloid cultivated. Rather, it may be better to say they at least at first were feeling the sense of superiority to one's culture. It is because the Jomon culture was thriving very much in that period. It was certain the Jomon people had kept true pride in one's culture if it watches the excavated earthenwares and clay dolls and so on to be said to be the relics of the Jomon period. Moreover, it seems the culture of the new type Mongoloid yet didn't give the Jomon people the influence so strong until Yin dynasty is established. As it stated before, it would be because the Jomon people's world view also had gotten complete as the Jomon culture was in the matured condition. The worldview is a part of the culture. Therefore, it is natural that the worldview evolves, synchronized with the progress of culture. By the way, the old opinion says the life of the Jomon people almost was being kept by the hunting-and-gathering economy. And, It is known the acorns and so on were their main foods. Moreover, it can think they had eaten the various foods if it sees the excavated various shells and also the bones of the various fishes and animals, and so on from the shell mounds. However, recently, several remains of the chestnut grove were excavated. It is said it seems the chestnut groves like that were grown by the Jomon people. And, it is said also there are the vestiges of the other crops grown by the Jomon people. Moreover, the recent study says the Jomon people were in the higher incidence of bad tooth than the general hunting-and-gathering people. If so, it seems the Jomon people are rather close to the agricultural people than the hunting-and-gathering people. In those days, the community of Jomon people enlarged the scale rapidly. In other words, it shows the Jomon people in those days could get the foods necessary to support many persons constantly. It can't but think the agriculture was spreading among the Jomon people in those days considerably. And, it can think many of the Jomon people were cultivating the soils if it considers the shape of the tableware used in those days and also the tool. The recent opinion roughly is changing like that. | |||||

Needless to say, it seems that the agriculture like that was considerably different at the kinds and the extent of development, corresponding to each area. However, it is certain the problem from such difference was solved by mainly the frequent trade among each area probably. In fact, the trace of the trades of the obsidian and so on is seen in several area. It isn't so hard to suppose the obsidian was exchanged for foods. Especially the communities of the coast considerably must have gotten the profit by many trades. Needless to say, the trade in those days was the barter economy. Apparently the gain looks to not be born from barter economy. However, It needs hardly to be said the opinion like that is mistake completely. It seems the above conjecture is proper. Anyhow, it is certain the food and clothes, and so on were the important in trade. |
If so, especially, in the case of trade needing the sea navigation for long time, it can think it evolved the technique of conservation for the foods considerably. Moreover, it is possible it thinks there were the goods of something to act the key currency in those days. It is because it is convenient that there is the goods like that, if there is the frequent trade. Anyhow, it seems it is certain the Jomon society was in the considerably free atmosphere. |
