4. The world view Jomon people think. 4-1. The Jomon world : The profit and the barter economy. |

The soul of Jomon supposed to be in the depths of our mind, and the worldview born of the soul like that seem to tend to sleep somehow because we almost don't notice the thing. It is because the rational mind based on Yayoi culture conceals the soul of Jomon from us because of our mental dual structure. This seems to be a kind of self-alienation. So, there is possibility the self-alienation like that makes us believe that it can maintain the society and all the organization only with leading oneself to fall the victim. Why our society be apt to become negative to our personal independence and freedom, may be the influence from the mental factor like that. However, the problem similar to this can be in any society though the cause is supposed to be different from each. Anyhow, this is the serious problem to be related to an individual's soul, freedom and also humanity. And, if it leaves this problem as it is, it can't assert that there isn't possibility the society believes the organization for the organization's sake. As you see, today, the people are in the organized condition considerably. So, there is the possibility the freedom and right the rich persons have disturb the weak and poor persons' freedom and right limitlessly. Needless to say, in this case, there is possibility the freedom and right the strong or rich persons have are conversely expanded intentionally and limitlessly. If the possibility like that materializes actually, our society would change to the more terrible hierarchical society different from the stratified society like Europe. The society like that keeps increasing in geometric progression the alienated persons with treating them coldly. And, whole of the society, filled with the persons alienated like that, is dyed in the atmosphere of personal alienation. It is natural that the society like that makes the culture and the social standards for behavior degenerate with obstructing the fusion of egos. It is because the fused egos are the footing of the social standards and culture as it stated before. As for me, it can't think that the people exist as the laborers or the parts of an organization originally. It thinks that they are living as the mental existence of knowing oneself, that is, of knowing the world. In spite of that, especially the civilization tends to treat the people as the parts of the organization. It thinks that the social tendency like that brings the degeneration of culture and at last brings the ruin of society as the civilization develops. Needless to say, the aspect of the degeneration like that is different corresponding to each community or each nation. Anyhow, at least in Japan, it is certain the conflict produced between the soul of Jomon and the rationalism which is based on Yayoi culture exists in the undercurrent of the degeneration like that. The above mentioned degeneration and ruin never be others' problem. We would have to think about this problem carefully. By the way, it seems that a ego is the "subject for perception" when the subjective recognition with the consistency provides us the actual world though the organization's recognition acts as the objective recognition in the individuals. Contrary to that, the worship of the organization is the denial of subjectivity for the individuals. And, the denial of subjectivity is the denial of the world which is the "object for perception". It is because the individuals' recognition all is the subjective recognition finally. Therefore, it has to think the denial of subjective recognition brings nil to the cognition-subject. It can say that the denial of subjective recognition like that brings nothing but the philosophy of admiring the ruin of the individual if the exaggerated expression is allowed. And, it also is certain that the state gets exposed to the crisis of collapse, even if it doesn't examine the past history if the philosophy like that spreads. As it stated before, the community must maintain the mental footing supposed to fuse each ego, that is, culture. And, the mental footing like that is born of the individuals' consciousness persistently. Therefore, we need to extract the mental principle for behavior and so on from our culture with finding the mental footing like that. That is the true philosophy. In that reason, the cognition-person needs to be treated carefully in the meaning like that though this is digression. Anyhow, it seems that the principle and system we borrowed from western Europe is about to face the serious problem about its effect. We would have to realize our true heart, that is, the soul of Jomon now. And, it would have to extract our original principle from our culture. If not, it is hard we maintain the subjective recognition which has consistency. And, it also is hard our egos are fused. In other words, it comes hard to maintain the social centripetal force. Furthermore, since the things mentioned above also suggest that the recognition we should have about the international environment as one's own may be unclear, it can't assert that our community doesn't turn aside out of the road to go to. Thereupon, to find the clue of the solution about this problem, next, it thinks to examine the Jomon world and the Jomon people's worldview a little more. However, the Jomon period is very long. So, it restricts this consideration mainly to the middle term of Jomon period and also to the latter term of Jomon period. In passing, it roughly is from 2000 B.C. until 1000 B.C. In those days, the climate in the Japanese Islands was relatively mild. However, at that time, the cold climate was about to creep on Japanese Islands together with the disturbance of the Asian Continent. And, it also is said that the Yin dynasty rose in China in roughly 1500 B.C. So, it seems to have become obvious that the culture of the new type Mongoloid held the superior position than the Jomon culture at least from that point of time. Conversely, at the last part of the Jomon period, the Jomon culture had started to decline. And, the social condition in Japanese Islands also started to change so violently that it gives the people the presentiment about the arrival of new epoch. Then, their presentiment materialized as the arrival of Yayoi period, soon. Probably, in the latter part of the Jomon period, it seems that the Jomon people already had the premonition of the violent social change though it may have been unconsciously. And, the uneasiness like that also was amplified because of the matured Jomon culture probably. "It doesn't know whether tomorrow is the better day than today". It seems that the mental atmosphere like that was spreading in Japanese Islands. Anyhow, it was certain that the dark cloud rushed toward them and was about to bring violent social change. And, it seems that a part of them already had felt the realistic threat, considering their surrounding circumstances and the political conditions of the continent. In those days, Jomon people living in Japanese Islands were the people of sea in those days if it considers the various data. So, it is easy to think that they were the lively frank people with the various curiosity because it is supposed that they went to various countries across the sea. Probably, they, in the trade, and so on, visited in their own art of navigation not only the habitants of the Japanese Islands but also the people of "old type Mongoloid" to live in the coast of the Asian Continent or other. Because of that, it seems that they had the considerably detailed knowledge about various things, not only Asian Continent. In those days, the new type Mongoloid already had advanced to the various areas of the Asian Continent. Therefore, it seems that in the coast of the Asian Continent, there were not only the Mongoloid of old type but also the people having the blood of new type and old type. If so, it is natural that the Jomon people also had the contact with the people like that. And, they must have known about the various dynasties of Asian Continent. If so, it can't assert that they hadn't contacted directly to either of those dynasties if it considers their character and curiosity. Anyhow, it seems that the Jomon people, especially the people living in the coast area got the various knowledge, especially the new type Mongoloid's knowledge, in the trade or other. Needless to say, it is because Jomon people recognized the knowledge like that to be very useful, in the reason mentioned before. But, in those days, it doesn't seem that the Jomon people had the inferiority complex against the culture the new type Mongoloid cultivated. Rather, it may be better to say that they at least at first were feeling the sense of superiority to one's culture. It is because the Jomon culture was thriving very much in that period. It was certain the Jomon people had kept true pride in one's culture if it watches the relics of the Jomon period, that is, the excavated earthenwares and clay dolls or other. Then, since civilization the new type Mongoloid constructed didn't give the Jomon people the influence so strong at least at first, yet, it seems that the Jomon people's world view could get complete. If not, it seems to have been impossible that they worship the gods having abstract meaning like "Taka-mi-musubi" and "Kan-musubi". Since it seems that the worldview becomes abstract as the culture progresses, the worship to those gods symbolizing Jomon people's worldview never be coincidence, I think. By the way, the old opinion says that Jomon people were living almost under the hunter-gatherer economy. And, It is known the acorns and so on were their main foods. Furthermore, it is said that it can know that they had eaten the various foods if it considers the excavated various shells and also the bones of the various fishes and animals, and so on from the shell mounds. However, recently, several remains of the grove of chestnut were excavated. It hears that the chestnut groves like that have been grown by the Jomon people. Furthermore, it also is said there are the vestiges of the other crops grown by the Jomon people. Then, the recent study says that the Jomon people were in the higher incidence of bad tooth than the people living under the hunter-gatherer economy generally. So, it says that the Jomon people look to be rather close to the agricultural people than the people living under the hunter-gatherer economy, if it considers the incidence of the bad tooth. In those days, the community of Jomon people enlarged its scale rapidly. In other words, it shows the Jomon people in those days could get the foods necessary to support many persons constantly. If so, it can't but think the agriculture was spreading among the Jomon people in those days considerably. And, it is said there is strong possibility many of the Jomon people were cultivating the soils if it considers the shape of the tableware used in those days and also the tool. The recent opinion roughly is changing like that. Needless to say, it seems that the agriculture like that was considerably different at the kinds and the extent of development, corresponding to each area. However, it seems that the problem occurring from such difference in those days had been solved by the frequent trade or other among each area probably. In fact, it is said that the trace of the trades of the obsidian and so on is seen in several area. So, it isn't so hard to suppose that the obsidian was exchanged for foods. Especially the communities of the coast considerably must have gotten the profit by many trades. Needless to say, it seems that the deal like that in those days was following mainly the principle of the barter economy. And, apparently the profit may not look to be born of the barter economy. However, in about two reason, it seems to be possible that the profit is born under the barter economy. One of its reason is the change of the economical worth occurring frequently in the case that many communities repeat the deals, and is the time lag of the change of economical worth to be different at each area. Therefore, the community using this time lag well at the deal can gain the profit. This also is the principle to be used in the present deal. And, another reason is the strong possibility that the substitute for a key currency was used in those days. It hears that the obsidian may have been the substitute like that at certain bloc for trade and at certain period. If there was the substitute like that at Jomon culture area, it seems to be easier to accumulate the worth than the general barter economy. Anyhow, it would be better to think that Jomon people had the conception of the profit. And, it seems that at the last term of Jomon period, Miho-tu-hime to have been the goddess of good harvest had changed to the goddess of good trade, and to the goddess of safety of sea navigation. Anyhow, as for which community is superior, it seems that it was related to the economical factors like that deeply. Then, it seems that the food and clothes, and so on were the important in trade. If so, as the trades needing the sea navigation for long time increase, it can think that it evolved the technique of conservation for the foods or clothes considerably. And, it seems there were the goods of something to substitute the key currency in those days as it stated before. It is because the goods with the function like that always are necessary for the frequent trade. | |||||
